Shanay Dougan
CBT Practitioner
Shanay is an experienced registered Mental Health Nurse who has over 13 years experience working in adult and child and adolescent mental health. Shanay is also a Cognitive behavioural Therapy (CBT) practitioner and was trained at the Anna Freud Centre for children and families at UCL.
Shanay is passionate about delivering high quality treatment and care to families and young people, she prides herself on supporting young people to navigate and develop their own sense of self.
Shanay has worked in adult and child and adolescent eating disorders for over 9 years, she has worked in the private sector and NHS inpatients and outpatients, she currently works at the Maudsley Centre for Child and Adolescent eating disorders and has done for 7 years.
Shanay is trained in a number of evidence-based therapies such as; Family therapy for Anorexia nervosa, Bulimia nervosa and other associated eating disorders. She is also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for eating disorders (CBT-E) which she has been delivering for a number of years, Shanay uses her years of experience in delivering a high quality level of care.
Shanay also has experience in delivering therapy for ARFID using a range of evidence based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) techniques. Shanay creates an open, nurturing and impartial therapeutic environment.
Shanay also delivers training to a number of clinicians nationally and has delivered supervision to a number of developing eating disorders services across the country.
